How to incorporate Twitter for Marketing Strategy

Just like to jot down some initial thoughts after a couple days of Twittering

1) Lightning-Fast Customer Responses

The Internet is the new playground for everyone. People like to be heard, and they want answers fast. Having a Twitter team crawl through the vast amount of Tweets to discover disatisfied, angry, pissed off customers and responding to them instantaneously, will discourage negative emotions towards the brand to manifest into something much more severe, which may ultimately lead to customer disloyalty. A customer lost due to a  small screw-up is a customer lost forever.

2) Listening to what customers have to say

The key to winning customers’ hearts is to respond to their needs. Unguarded and unafraid, people will tweet their most sincere feelings towards certain brands/ products/ service. Save up on the thousands of bucks spend on market research. Invest in a Twitter team and get the real thoughts of the consumers. Uncensored and therefore extremely valuable.

Will come back & work on this more once I catch up on sleep.

3) “I’ll be there for you” Campaign! ( No, I’m not talking about the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora and performed by American band Bon Jovi. BTW, it’s a real hit, check it out on YouTube)

To show to customers that you’re a brand that is all about the customers, instead of just saying “Customer is king”, do just that! Serve them like kings & queens and be there when they need you, instantly. A quick search on the word “Coffee” came up with the following (selected) tweets…

yermaum: So who’s up for a ny coffee night?

silvietta_italy: 3rd coffee in a row.still awake cos its heavy-raining 5.15 am and haven’t slept a minute tonight!

daybreaks: coffee and cigarettes like i haven’t had them recently. :( 2 minutes ago from web

jockeknutsson: Yet again on the bus, man I need good coffee right about now!

and so on…

So what’s my point you ask? Well,RT these people and give them a months’s supply of your coffee! Not only will they now think of your brand instantly when they type the words coffee, it really goes to show that you’re a company who is embracing where the consumers are, on the WWW.

Ok, I guess the sleep wasn’t quite enough. Thoughts are muddled up @ this point in time.

But do check out these post as well for more ideas on Twittering.

4) Once you start, you can’t (or shouldn’t) stop

The last thing that you want your customers to feel is the feeling of being dumped. That’s right, don’t Twitter away without in-depth thinking of where it will bring you. Think of what resources are needed to manage the account, and what happens when your followers increase exponentially (that’s what we all want, right? :) ) No one knows what lies ahead after Facebook and Twitter, but in the meantime, embrace what’s there and give it your best shot! I believe your customers will appreciate the brand’s efforts in connecting with them, wherever they are.
